Mayor Keith Holliday served as keynote speaker at the event in which over $65,000 will be granted to Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) groups and organizations in a five county region. The following grants were made: A&T University – Acceptance with out Exception: $3,000 General Operating Expenses for Campus LGBT Organization Alamance Cares: $4,000 Hispanic Outreach in Alamance County Alternative Resources of the Triad: $1,500 Triad Pride 2008 Central Carolina Health Network: $1,500 Outreach positions focused on gay Hispanic and African Americans Elon University Student Life and Multi Cultural Affairs: $7,000 Production of “Deep Impact” diversity video and Safe Zone Project Gay, Straight Advocates for Education: $2,000 National Conference and Lobby Day Fees Mental Health Association: $4,000 Expansion of Latino Mental Health campaign – integration of LGBT issues North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence: $3,000 Project Rainbow Net: LGBT Domestic Violence Program New Garden Friends School Gay Lesbian Action Meeting: $1,000 Educational training for school staff Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays Greensboro (PFLAG): $1,000 Marketing Materials Positive Wellness Alliance (Davidson County): $4,000 HIV/AIDS Case Management Touring Theatre of North Carolina: $5,000 Production of “The Fountains of the Earth” by NC African American playwright Triad Friends: $2,750 Triad Friends House Operating Expenses Triad Health Project: $12,000 General Operating Triad Pride Mens Chorus: $1,200 Attendance fees for annual GALA Conference UNCG Nicolas A. Since 2000, Guilford Green has increased its grantmaking from $30,000 to $65,000. The GGF Endowment now totals close to $400,00 and total grantmaking totals $441,610.00. |
